Photos from Miss Chew [Thanks] - 22/7/08 at ACS[I].

My cousin and I. During the reception, some guests commented that I looked like him O.O To be honest, I don't see any clear resemblance haha. I'm grateful for all those words of encouragement/favourable comments from friends/teachers/fellow performers/guests. Although these should be taken with a pinch of salt, I felt this sense of accomplishment after the performance. Many thanks!

These 2 days have been a blur - I felt like a zombie lumbering around school. I had so much difficulty trying to stop yawning; My eyes resembled that of a panda too. After reaching home, I had planned to go to the gym for a short work-out after washing my face. To my horror, I ended up taking a full shower, without realising what I'd done. I felt rather silly when I walked out of the toilet; 'Was feeling quite dazed and decided to go for a nap. Still, I'm feeling really really tired. Oh well, I don't have the luxury of having a full day to rest. Shall trust that Lord will be my source of strength.

On a side note, I read a post from (Mr.) Rasull's blog about a drummer from one of his bands. Turns out that Chee Khin [Drummer] was my group mate from the National Youth Percussion Festival in 2003. I still remember talking to him during the WASBE 2005 Outreach Performances at the Botanical Gardens. I was quite shocked/pleasantly surprised to find out that he's the drummer of Yi Xuan Feng! Last night, I also found out that the violinist/keyboardist from Wu Ge Ren is actually a violin player from the SNYO. Cool huh?!

Over - in a flash! My body is aching...
'Just finished my bath after reaching home not too long ago. Shall post more soon.
Till then, IT'S TIME TO SLEEP!

Monday, July 21, 2008

What a long day. I'm surprised that I've managed to stay awake.

My segment went pretty fine. I thank God for his guidance and comfort that enabled me to overcome any pre-concert jitters. It was quite amusing to hear people clapping with me during my 'clapping part' of the Sonata. The school is really huge and their canteen is air-conditioned. The performing arts hall [I'm not sure which auditorium it was - yes they have auditorium(s)] is bigger than VCH. Even the dressing rooms [yes they have dressing rooms] were fully air-conditioned, spacious [stretched almost a corridor] and had TV sets to watch the performances. Amazing eh?

Everyone was in their own cliques, except for the 'solo' people like me. At least I talked to a few people haha. Some of the secondary school students are fantastic musicians - I was so amazed that they could attain such a high standard even at this young age. Yeap, I think that people watching the concert tomorrow will be treated to a rather good show. Nearly half of the performances are compositions by MEP students [past and present]. When I listened to them, I almost felt ashamed of my compositions ahaha.

Am grateful for those well-wishes from friends, my 4 MEP teachers for their guidance/support/concern and my cousin for his encouragement. I hope I won't fall asleep in class tomorrow. Ciao!

Yep that's right. I'll be playing the timpani for the next 2 nights at ACS[I], during the Combined Schools' MEP Concert. Most unfortunately, my NAPFA test is on Friday. This week will be a test of my mental and physical strength/will-power. Hope to make some new friends from the music schools; Would be good to know more people.

Amazing, how time flies. Tomorrow marks the 5th week of Term 3. In a matter of weeks/months, I'll be leaving Temasek Junior College for the army. Once I'm 18, all those benefits of being a kid will disappear. As the shelter is gradually removed from my head, will I be strong enough to survive independence and self-reliance?

Looking outside at the surroundings from my balcony, I start to think about how everything might look like, a few years down the road. What will happen to all the trees, grass fields? Will I see flying cars instead of birds in the sky? Hmm...

On a side note, I've placed a playlist of worship songs just below my tagboard. To anyone who's feeling down, I encourage you to click on any song - Just listen and let God do the rest.
[Thanks Ori]
Smile, and have an awesome week ahead.

This time round, photos from Audrey [Thanks]

LOL. I tried to smile but it backfired terribly

I think this was when Miss Lau said Ori and I thought she was calling me.

Played during service today. Practice practically halted when we came to the song 'For All You've Done'. I hadn't heard the song before, while the rest were trying to explain to me about how to play the song. Unfortunately, we sounded as if we were speaking different languages as I couldn't understand what they were telling me. SOS call to Johnathan haha. Thank goodness he had the recording with him and all turned out well.

While on the way home, my mind started to wander - thought about my life for the past 17-odd years. Change is amazing, don't you think? Of course, memories of the past flooded back. Somehow, I've lost contact with nearly 3/4 of the people that I've known since primary school. It's rather sad that as you meet the new, you usually forget the old. As for me, I don't usually forget my friends + memories. Yet, I think that most of my friends from years back have probably forgotten me. Even from secondary school, you start to see people going onto separate paths, so much so that losing contact seems inevitable.

What will happen after my As? How will life be like for me?

Just yesterday, I chanced upon a blog belonging to a teacher of mine. Honestly, I didn't expect to read such comments and thoughts - I never knew that "so and so" detested school life/teaching that much. As I read the posts, I wondered how I failed to notice that my teacher was actually be going through such a tough time. I mean, it is really torturous to force yourself to do something that you don't enjoy. Putting up a false front requires a high degree of perseverance. I can't imagine how I'll survive in such a situation, where I'm doing something that I don't like - When I don't have the choice. Oh well, I wish "so and so" all the best for the future.

Many many great photos from Kong Meng [Thanks]. I think, I'm gonna get super vain really soon haha.
